Blog: 2018 Latino Conservation Week

Latino Conservation Week (#LCW2018) is here and HECHO will be celebrating all week by highlighting Latino Conservation Week events taking place in the Southwest and featuring the stories of Latino conservation leaders and their connections to the outdoors and stewardship of the land.

Latino Conservation Week Events in the Southwest:

Arizona: There are 2 events remaining in Arizona, one focused on adobe brick making in the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument and a baptismal event open to the public at the Davis Camp in Bullhead City, AZ

New Mexico: There are several events remaining in New Mexico. In the Albuquerque area help monitor water quality on the Rio Grande and there will be birding and breakfast at Valle de Oro. Other events around the state include, a night at a botanical garden in Santa Fe, a hike and clean up in Aguirre Spring National Recreation Area,  rafting the Rio Bravo in Southern NM, hiking the Gila, and a paint out in Northern NM.

Nevada: In the Las Vegas area there will be a film screening with Mom’s Clean Air Force with drinks and food included.

Colorado: Colorado has several events remaining this week including a field trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park, mindfulness and storytelling on Mt. Evans, a family camp out and conservation project on Mt. Elbert, a tour of the Machu Picchu of the southwest at Chimney Rock NM, and native seed collection in Boulder.
 

Utah: There will be a Bears Ears National Monument clean up event to protect a highly trafficked cultural site.
